Rental Housing Licensing
4-2-1: Purpose
The purpose of this Section is to maintain the City’s sanitation, public health and attractiveness, protect the safety of the people, and to promote the general welfare. These general objectives include, among others the following:
- To protect the character and stability of the residential areas.
- To correct and prevent conditions that adversely affect or are likely to adversely affect the safety, general welfare, and health of persons owning or renting residential facilities.
- To provide for sound maintenance of cooking, heating, sanitary, electrical, light and ventilation systems necessary for health and safety.
- To provide basic standards for the maintenance of existing residential structures and to prevent deterioration and blight.
- To preserve the value of land and structures throughout the City.
